A Cyberpunk Inspired Animated Environmental Diorama (Full Process)
Concept Statement:
I was not directly influenced by the ideas of cyberpunk but the photographers who were fascinated by the concept. Since I started photography, I naturally felt inclined to the cyberpunk aesthetics created by some cityscape photographers, who aimed to utilize Lightroom to create a moody feeling for their photography. Therefore, the experience drew me into the world of cyberpunk and heavily influenced my aesthetics when it came to photography initially. After I watched Blade Runner 2049, I felt impressed by the sense of future that it created. It sparked my fantasy regarding the unknown future of the human world. Besides, the place where I am from, Guangzhou, plays a significant role in my emotional attachment to the cyberpunk aesthetics. As a resident in Guangzhou, I had been seeing a great number of neon signs along the streets around the urban village area. That is why I felt resonated with the dilapidated and organic aesthetics presented in the movie and the neon lights were an important feature for me to connect with the concept. Therefore, in this assignment, I hope to utilize the skills that I developed over the course to make a simple version of a small cyberpunk city with neon lights in Chinese. It is a glimpse into my fantasy of cyberpunk and serves as a starting point for my ambition in creating a more refined cybercity.
