Speculative User Interface Prototypes
Intentions:
The project aims to create a desktop landing page and a mobile application for Wayfarer, a travel website that serves as a destination discovery platform. The target audience for Wayfarer primarily consists of individuals aged 21 to 30 who are frequent travelers and are continuously in search of new adventures.
In terms of the choice of color, since the main target audience is the young generation, I tend to look for a more trendy color as the themed color of the page. Inspired by the views of nature, I associate the dark green with the explorational spirits, seeing how dark green can psychologically bring a sense of refreshment and security. I believe that young travelers would like to seek refreshing feelings during their different journeys. In the light of bringing people
At first, I tended to put all the functions together so that the audience could have access to most of the useful information at the first glance. However, under the mentor’s advice, I realized that it would be too much to squeeze everything into one page since it would make it hard for the users to navigate the content and functional buttons. Therefore, I simplified sections by separating each part of the content, leaving 1 button for each section. In this case, there would be only one bright orange CTA button to direct the action of the users when they are scrolling through the whole website.
Under the “Popular destination” section, in order to inform the scrollable feature of the cards, I left the fourth card half outside of the screen so the users could understand there’ll be more cards for recommendations. The search button in the top can make it easy for the user to search anything they want from the website if they have specific goals about what they are looking for.
Same principles are used in the phone page. The main changes are that I took off certain texts and simplify them into one button such as the user login button and the “wayfarer” title.
